We kept as much length as possible below the collarbone and added layers only along the sides of the face. Dropping long side bangs from the cheekbone to the jawline in a 6:4 asymmetric part, revealing a little forehead, breaks up the long vertical face so it looks slimmer and adds an urban, refined edge. The ends get only a soft inward C-curl (a softening move) to keep the layers light and moving.
Hush cut vs layered cut — for the same idea of layers, a hush cut sits at a higher layer than a layered cut, giving a lighter, trendier texture. This client’s “refined & feminine” mood was clear, so instead of an over-layered hush we framed the face with a layered cut and added just the right amount of trend on top.
③ The result — Here’s the change
The length is almost untouched, but the impression is far cleaner. The once-flat sides now wrap the face and slim it, while the side bangs and C-curled ends add movement, reading much more refined and feminine. And because nothing was cut short, there’s no regret about lost length.
At home, dry the side bangs and side sections curling slightly inward to hold the direction longer; a little essence on the ends and a quick inward turn with a large round brush brings back the salon finish.
